The Cook is responsible for providing superior customer service to residents and employees. The Cook will help assure the dietary department is maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.

Job Description

  • Provide nutritional meals to residents, staff and visitors 
  • Make changes to meal plans when necessary, with approval from the Director of Dietary Services
  • Ensure food supplies are appropriate and place orders when necessary
  • Oversee food tray line to ensure trays are prepared according to diet cards efficiently
  • Provide supervision to dietary aides as directed
  • Assure that established sanitation policies and procedures are followed 
  • Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks, using equipment and supplies
  • Assure that the work area is clean and free of hazardous conditions such as spills, excess carts, etc.
  • Assure that equipment, tools and supplies are properly stored 
  • Report all equipment malfunctions and breakdowns to the supervisor and keep the supervisor informed of supply needs
  • Report all hazardous conditions and equipment along with any accidents/incidents to the Dietary Director
  • Maintains the comfort, privacy, and dignity of guests and interacts with them in a manner that displays warmth, respect, and promotes a caring environment
  • Attend and participate in meetings and in-services as scheduled


  • One-year experience as a Cook preferred
  • ServSafe Certification
